So what's all this then...

First time blogger, long time web site owner... :-)

Thought it was time to roll out the personal blog. If you've been paying attention you will have noticed the Dardi book is growing a little. Well it'll grow in time as I work out how I want to write the material. I'll be posting any radical insights here over time as well.

The insight that came to me today was from reading the safe ways to attack in single sword again. It struck me that the direct attack to the sword hand is there plain as day as a common opening. I then started realising that there a few other standard openings in the system.
1 - Direct attack to the sword hand
2 - Direct attack to the head as you step on the pass (much better with a buckler in hand)
3 - Thrust to face, then hit with a redouble
4 - Feint then attack them once they move to defend themselves
5 - Attack by 2nd intention
6 - Take their point off line (usually with the false edge) and then hit them

I'll be pulling more of that idea together over the next couple of weeks. I think it'll be a great way to teach Offense at the Brisbane Swordsmanship Conference in August. That'll be an interesting time getting to teach a 6 hour seminar.

On the movie front, I've been to see the new Star Trek and Wolverine movies recently. Both worth seeing, and Sylar as Spock just works!
